Night of the Arts Celebration
Posted by Ron Swantner on 3/25/2024 5:00:00 PMHOORAY! HOORAY!
Please come to the
2024 LPC Spring Concert & Night of the Arts
Every child in First, Second, and Third Grade is invited to participate in our Spring Concert. The six informal mini-concerts will be staggered over the evening in order to simplify parking and audience seating. Please note your student’s performance time.
It is very important that a student be in his/her classroom 15 minutes before the start of the evening concert. After a group is finished, parents will be directed to the rooms in the Arts Wing and will meet their child in one of the rooms behind the stage before leaving the building or taking a tour of the Art Show.
We encourage early concert participants and families to view the art work after their performance while late performing students can arrive early to view the art work before their music concert.
Students are encouraged to wear something dressy and celebratory!
Below are the times for the staggered performing groups in the evening concerts:
Wednesday, March 27th
(In classroom at 5:00) Team 1A (Blank, Cox, Sieklicki) – 5:15-5:45
(In classrooms at 5:30) Team 1B ( Folk, Grim, Moyer)– 5:45-6:15
(In classroom at 6:00) Team 2A (Campbell, Eby, Melos, Statler) – 6:15-6:45
(In classroom at 6:30) Team 2B (Lehman, Miller, Piacentino) – 6:45-7:15
(In classroom at 7:00) Team 3A (A. Bush, C. Bush, Crush) – 7:15-7:45
(In classroom at 7:30) Team 3B (Brenner, Murphy, Thomas) – 7:45-8:15
Thank you for supporting your child in this valuable learning experience at LPC!
We look forward to seeing you on this exciting evening!
We could still use some volunteers to assist during the Art Gallery viewing!

Recognition of LPC Bucket Fillers
Posted by Ron Swantner on 3/19/2024 4:30:00 PMLPC is proud of the Bucket Filling choices of many of our students who have been AWESOME Role Models and leaders for their peers. Students recognized for their Bucket Filling Traits during the month of February included:
Kellan Judge, Thoraknint Yun, Josiah Irizarry, Wesley Brobst, Hari Patel, Benjamin Patterson, Lucas Fulmer, Sawyer Fridy, Monroe Blymier, Eli Pagan, Shiloh Myers, Verena Tamang, Maddox Miller, Nelson Torres, Quinn Weber, Isaac Blessing, Sophia Wise, Tyler Lilley, Genevieve Sherman, William Bleming, McKenzie Fisher, Olivia Martinson, Shyann Williams, Piper Cain, Andrew Widmeyer, Jackson Griffe, Gabe Angello, Elijah Brown, Sana Senthilkumar, Braeden Herr, Peter Chiccarine, Ifsin Etefa, Rehan Chhetri, John Cambria, and Xander Messner
We will be relying on these Bucket Fillers and many of our other AWESOME students to help each other with reminders about being safe with our actions and our words. Please have a conversation with your children at home reminding them to be in control of their bodies and aware of their surroundings. Please have your children report when another student may make poor choices in restrooms, on the bus, or at times staff is not monitoring unstructured settings. Also, please encourage your children to be a leader and not a follower when others are making unexpected and/or unsafe choices. Thanks in advance for having these conversations with your children.
How to Obtain your clearances:
This is an ongoing question. Here is the link from the Hempfield Website on how to start the process. To volunteer at the school and chaperone field trips, you MUST have your clearances turned in. They are good for 5 years.

Lockdown Drill Practice
Posted by Ron Swantner on 3/13/2024 5:00:00 PMLPC will conduct a lockdown drill tomorrow, March 14, 2024. Just as we practice drills for weather and fire-related safety, we also practice how to respond in the event of an intruder. It is important for students and staff to be familiar with the process, procedures, and routines. Each classroom teacher will talk with his/her class about the lockdown drill prior to it occurring. The teacher will emphasize that this is just a drill and that there is no reason for concern at this time, as well as explain the importance of doing these drills, so we are prepared in the event of a real emergency. Please consider talking with your student(s) at home about this drill so they feel comfortable and secure.

Kindergarten Registration and Screening Information 2024-25
Posted by Ron Swantner on 3/12/2024 4:00:00 PMWelcome families of incoming kindergarteners for the 2024-2025 school year. Please be sure to complete our Kindergarten registration process (The steps to doing so can be found here.) as soon as possible and also sign up for a kindergarten screening date and time here. The Kindergarten Screenings will take place April 2 through April 5. If you have any questions, please contact one of our reading specialists:
Kristi Miller (kristi_miller@hempfieldsd.org) or Christina Hoover(christina_hoover@hempfieldsd.org).
Additional Information regarding Kindergarten Screening:
Each screening will take approximately 30 minutes. Students will play a series of low-pressure games and complete activities so our staff can get an idea of your child’s basic alphabet and number knowledge. Our specialists will then check comprehension and vocabulary through a book that is read aloud to your child.
LPC Reading Specialists will be administering the screening. While your child is working with the specialist, you will have the opportunity to meet with other staff members (School Counselor/Instructional Support, English Language Teacher, etc) to help us learn more about your child. When the screening is completed, the reading specialist will come out and let you know how your child did on the screener.
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so happy to have your child join us at LPC!

Posted by Kelly Burkholder on 3/8/2024 8:00:00 AMThe Hempfield Foundation’s 2nd annual bookmark design contest to celebrate Read Across America Month is underway! This contest is open to all elementary, middle school, and high school (NEW for 2024!) students in the Hempfield School District. Information sheets were sent home with all students K-8. March Madness
Posted by Ron Swantner on 3/8/2024 7:00:00 AMWhether you will be cheering on the UConn Huskies, Houston Cougars, UNC Tar Heels, or Florida Atlantic Owls, one team we can all agree to stand behind and cheer for is Team LPC! This week we celebrated our All Star students by participating in student and staff basketball games. We even had a ‘Super Hero’ show up to talk about safety, respect and responsibility. Batman shared that you don’t need a cape to be a Super Hero. Every student has the opportunity to be a Super Hero by showing Aevidum and helping their classmates, their teachers, their families and anyone who others could be treating unkindly. Many LPC staff members volunteered to play hoops and help the students have a great time celebrating their good choices made over the last month.
